First meeting of the campaign group
March
Production of the document ‘Overall Objective and Aims of the Campaign’
- Initial contact with a local GP to make enquiries about the Referral Management Service (RMS) for outpatient appointments
- Contact with the clinical lead for the RMS
- Contact with the manager of the RMS
- Confirmation that the RMS no longer runs as described on their website
- Initial approach to the Mayors of Penzance, Hayle, St Just, St Ives and Marazion about our campaign
April
– Meeting with the RCHT Transformation Head and others
May
Workshop attended about outpatient referrals, and subsequent document produced by the RCHT Head of Transformation – The onus is on the patient to ask for a local appointment.
June
Poster produced – Are you waiting for an outpatient appointment…
- Updated letter sent to the Mayors (post election)
- Meeting with our MP, who backs the campaign
July
Presentation at the Penwith Community Area Partnership meeting, including publicising the poster.
- Approach from the Integrated Care Board West to say they support the poster and would ask the GPs to display it
- Contacted by the lead for the West Penwith Community Hubs asking for posters to display
- Presentation at Penzance Town Council meeting
- Support for the campaign from the Mayors and Town Councils
- Support from Hayle PPG, and Goldsithney
- Printing of posters (previously shared electronically)
August
- Second meeting with our MP
- Distribution of posters around the community
- Contact RCHT head of transformation about rebooking appointments
September
- Response from RCHT to Penzance Town Council saying they would do more to ensure patients are aware of their ability to change appointments
- Set up a table on Newlyn Green (Raft race) to engage with the public
October
- Follow up to response to Penzance Town Council
- Community Action Fest on 24th
November
- Meeting with the Deputy Head of Transformation, RCHT, to discuss the patient hub and encourage the Access team to include a line about patient choice of location
