Guests: Sue Nicholas (Chair) and Sue Pass(Vice-Chair) Cornwall Council's Health and Adults Overview and ScrutinyCommittee

• Cllr Nicholas outlined the role of HAOSC, what it can and what it cannot do. We were unable to discuss issues such as Poltair and community care funding. We were encouraged to make links with the new Healthwatch Cornwall organisation.

• Peninsula Community Health: We noted Kevin Baber'sresignation from PCT, and that he is returning to NHS employment. We have graveconcerns about the future of Poltair Hospital, now closed for months, firstlybecause of staff shortages, now because of awaiting a review of services. Meanwhile there are insufficient community beds and inadequate care inthe community. We agreed that HAOSC should consider this at their nextmeeting.

• NHS PS Ltd: All NHS property under the care of the Primary Care Trust is to be transferred to a new private company. We wonder what will happen when a hospital is closed or assets sold. Issues across the NHS: RCHT staffing levels / SERCO manipulated figures / Bodmin Treatment Centre, run by Ramsay Health Care, and its partnership with Morrab Road Surgery, taking work away from WCH and RCH Treliske / Testing for Type 2 diabete
